Backgammon Pro app good for
Design of the game is not great, but it is convenient, and now that the bug has been fixed there is not much to say...
The strategies in the advance option are too defensive and easy to win.
Anyway, what I like about this backgammon game is that the program is written so the computer player isnt a d&mbass and is aggresssive so you have to think and plan (as much as rhe randomness of dice allow).
Quick game to help pass the time. Would like the option to surrender to avoid having to play out a losing game, would like a stats option.
This game is pretty realistic. The only thing I dont like us the pop-up that says there are no valid moves. The other thing when there are no valid moves, e. g. when you have to re-enter after being hit & the home board is fully blocked, the dice still roll.
When opponent hits one or two of the other opponent checkers and completely blocks his/her home table, why should the other player keeps rolling the dice? Could this be changed so as long as home table is blocked the other opponent could not roll the dice.
Some bad moments
The computer is designed to cheat this increases on higher levels. It simply rolls all the double sixs it needs no strategy just virtual weighted dice.
I wish I could get a refund. On hard, the dice do not seem fair. Instead of better AI, the dice become unfair. After you play, but before you pick up your dice, you should be able to undo--but not in this game. The board is positioned backwards. The checkers move animation is tediously slow. I hate this game. Go get something else.
I am not a serious player, and when pitted against a human opponent with my intellect and experience, I win about half the time, even taking the doubling cube into consideration.
This program, at top level, makes really stupid errors, and I win possibly 75% of the time.
In general the game is well designed but on the hard level the computer generates the "perfect" roll for itself on a very regular basis. Strategy becomes meaningless as the computer will roll itself out of any jam.
Its no different from the regular one. I spent money to upgrade to nothing new
When the computer gets first role 24 times out of 25, or when it gets "miracle rolls" and knocks me off 19 times out of 20, and when it exposes a single token and I dont get the number after 5 tries, then it is clear the developers wrote algorithms for the hard version. The fun lies in waiting for the breaks or changing the pattern so the program screws up.
There is no randomized rolls in the hard level-just a program that cheats. Bad design. Lazy developers. Do not purchase.
